CONSTRUCTION No.1. KNITTING PATTERN

MODULAR KNITTINGPATTERN. Hood, HoodyScarf, HoodyScarfCardigan - Scar, Bolero, Bolero withSleeves.

This is the veryfirst CONSTRUCTION KNITTING pattern series I designed in 2009 - the idea beingto make knitting as accessible as possible to beginners, by designing a garmentconstruction made up of simple shapes that can be interchanged.  The pattern is so easy to follow that itenables you to adapt the pattern if you wish; for example you can addcomponents or alter the proportions of lengths and widths (like the red garmentbelow) so that you can become co-designer and not just follow a pattern.

Working with chunkyyarn and big needles makes this knitting not only quick to knit up, but alsoyou can work to whatever stage you like, as your confidence and gratificationgrows when you complete each portion.

The first garmentstarts with a rectangle shape and starts as a HOOD, which by adding anotherrectangle shape becomes a HOODYSCARF, and the addition of another rectangleshape tranforms it into a HOODYSCARFCARDIGAN garment.  The second variation of the modular patternbegins as a rectangle shape to become a SCARF, which by adding anotherrectangle shape becomes a sleeveless BOLERO, and then beomes a CARDIGAN whenadding shapes with simple tapering at the end to a triangle point which becomesleeves.
